Established and run by Mr Ahmar Rashid, a former Head Teacher with over 30 years experience in mainstream, independent and private schooling , 11Plus West Midlands has a proven track record in 11+ and independent schools exam preparation. All our tutors are enhanced CRB cleared.

We have a comprehensive, tried and tested programme of study over Years 3, 4 and 5 that will facilitate your child to tackle the 11+ exam with confidence, efficiency and poise.

:::  Profile  :::

11Plus West Midlands was established by Mr Ahmar Rashid, a former Headteacher who enthuses a passion for providing children with the highest quality education possible. A qualified teacher with exemplary methods underpinning deep understanding, the numerous 11+ successes is a testament to his expertise, unique skill sets and teaching strategies which benefit students immensely. Thus, Mr Rashid has developed and formulated a unique set of resources over 30 years to enable students to tackle the 11+ exam with precision and proficiency.

:::  What We offer  :::

Centres

Tuition Centres across the West Midlands We have 5 centres that are dedicated to providing the best tuition for Year 3 to Year 5 children. There is active teaching in the lesson, classwork which is marked and checked to ensure understanding, homework provided to be completed during the week and weekly testing to gauge learning.

Small Groups / 1-2-1

Smaller Groups & 1-2-1 Small classes of up to 4 students are also offered for those who are not able to visit one of our centres or wish for a more intimate setting.

1-2-1 lessons are also available online via Zoom with just one child. These are strictly on a first come first served basis so please call for availability.

Online Classes

Mr Rashid will be undertaking one Year 5 and one Prep (Years 3&4) LIVE virtual lesson on TUESDAYS as follows:

· Years 3&4 (Prep) – 4:15pm to 5:15pm

· Year 5 – 5:20pm to 6:20pm

These lessons can also be attended should a child miss a lesson at the centre for that week – they must however obtain the Test/Pack(s) beforehand.

KES/Independent Schools

KES/Independent Schools A course covering a higher level of Maths (word problems, lateral thinking and problem solving), Comprehension (written answers providing evidence from the passage) and Creative Writing for those students wishing to gain a place at the top tier private institutions of King Edwards Schools or any other Independent School in the country

Mock Exams

Mock Exams These are an invaluable tool in preparing a student for exam conditions and discipline. Children are exposed to a multitude of facets like time management and developing their ability to stay calm even if faced with unfamiliar question. 11Plus West Midlands undertake 5 Mock Exams (one each month) leading up to the 11+ exam. Each Mock exam will be marked and the results presented in a report, which will provide the child’s mark, percentage and ranking for each discipline as well as an overall data and rank. More importantly, however, you will receive the actual Mock paper back with the answers, so you can work over any corrections with your child. No other centre offers this.

Booster & Crash Courses

May Half Term Booster Course and 11+ Summer Crash Course These intensive sessions for Year 5s run over the respective holiday periods and are a mixture of timed exam practice, identifying weak areas (and improving on them) and increasing the range of skills in Maths, English, VR, NVR and Comprehension. Additionally, they are an invaluable tool in preparing a child for exam conditions and discipline.

Maths

This involves the child being tested on mental maths, maths concepts and skills and problems that have to be solved in multiple stages. It also tests the child’s English skills in deciphering word problems.

English

Comprehension – this involves the child’s understanding and interpretation of what is read. In addition to being able to decode what they read, the child should be able to make suitable inferences involving knowledge, experience and thinking.

Verbal Reasoning

This involves the child thinking about words and text and solving problems, sequences, codes etc. It requires the pupil to have a good grasp of English grammar and a wide vocabulary. It tests the child’s lateral thinking.

Non-Verbal Reasoning

This involves the child thinking about pictures and diagrams and solving problems based on these items. It tests the child’s logical thinking.

Reading

This stimulates a child’s imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.

General Knowledge

This enables one to understand and analyse situations better. A high level of general knowledge opens gateways to our thinking and will passively yet directly enhance academic knowledge, adapt to situations more and make better decisions.

:::  Testimonials  :::

Tutoring from Mr Rashid was extremely thorough and focused  which allowed me to excel both in the 11 plus exam as well as at school. The more I was taught by him, the more I felt confident in myself and my knowledge. He allowed me to gain a solid foundation in the core subjects and his techniques I still use today.
I will always be grateful to Mr Rashid for providing me with a well rounded spectrum of knowledge and confidence.

Aymah
Wolverhampton Girls High School.
When I first started I used to get low scores in the tests but than I received a lot of help in the lessons and slowly my scores/results in the tests started to reflect my hard work. I liked Mr Rashid’s lessons as we had tests at every lesson for the previous paper. This told my mum, dad & me if I understood what was taught.
I always felt so welcome in the lessons and I liked the lessons. They were fun but hard. Thank you Mr Rashid and your team.

11 Plus West Midlands have provided an excellent service through regular tuition lessons and weekly packs to prepare my child for the 11 plus test. Additionally, the weekly tests provided by 11 plus tuition enable familiarisation with the testing process. As a result my daughter said she was confident in taking the test and came out of the exam smiling. Additionally, 11 Plus West Midlands have always been available to answer queries, providing a supportive and helpful service. One of the beneficial aspect of the tuition service is the choice to attend via an online virtual lesson, or at one of the tuition centres. For any who would have difficulty travelling to a centre, this is a very useful option.

This was an amazing programme it has filled in a lot of gaps in my knowledge. I have learnt so much from it and have got the qualifying score for Wolverhampton Girls High and King Edwards 5 ways. Mr Rashid was a very understanding tutor. He had lots of top tips and techniques that has helped increase my knowledge and speed when answering questions.

Hari started having tuition around a year before his 11 plus exam. Hari started gaining an enormous amount of self confidence whilst he was attending tuition and enjoyed his lessons. He worked hard and went through all the work that was set every week to consolidate learning which was then marked with the tutor in the lesson giving concise explanations to any wrong answers. Rashid was honest in where he thought weaknesses were seen and gave excellent advise on how best to approach difficult subject areas. The Maths/English tuition really helped Hari get an excellent results in his KES Exam. I would like to thank Rashid for all his hard work, expertise and dedication he gave to Hari to help him achieve his goal.

We are very please with Jaydan’s result for the exams. With the help from Mr Rashid, he has done himself and us proud. Thank you very much. We always say the student can be as good as the teacher. Jaydan would never has achieved this if it wasn’t for Mr Rashid’s help in the past 18 months. So all the credits are yours. Sending him to this course was the best decision we have made for him. We can never thank you enough!!

Mr Rashid is an exemplary teacher. He gives us exams every week. He is very disciplined. I enjoyed my learning experience with him and he’s very passionate about teaching. I owe my success in grammar school to Mr Rashid.

Chris

Prior to Mr Rashid’s help, I was struggling in school to achieve the highest grades I could. My parents were recommended Mr Rashid. With his tutoring, I could feel myself getting better and better in my school work and gradually my grades were getting higher.
Mr Rashid’s teaching method itself is clear, concise and structured. This enabled me to pass my 11 plus and get into Wolverhampton Girl’s High, I don’t think I could have achieved this without Mr Rashid’s help – he was always present to answer questions via email and face to face very promptly. Thank you Mr Rashid for your help in getting me into a school that would give me the best education possible.

Fatima
