::: Profile :::
11Plus West Midlands was established by Mr Ahmar Rashid, a former Headteacher who enthuses a passion for providing children with the highest quality education possible. A qualified teacher with exemplary methods underpinning deep understanding, the numerous 11+ successes is a testament to his expertise, unique skill sets and teaching strategies which benefit students immensely. Thus, Mr Rashid has developed and formulated a unique set of resources over 30 years to enable students to tackle the 11+ exam with precision and proficiency.
::: What We offer :::
Centres
Tuition Centres across the West Midlands We have 5 centres that are dedicated to providing the best tuition for Year 3 to Year 5 children. There is active teaching in the lesson, classwork which is marked and checked to ensure understanding, homework provided to be completed during the week and weekly testing to gauge learning.
Small Groups / 1-2-1
Smaller Groups & 1-2-1 Small classes of up to 4 students are also offered for those who are not able to visit one of our centres or wish for a more intimate setting.
1-2-1 lessons are also available online via Zoom with just one child. These are strictly on a first come first served basis so please call for availability.
Online Classes
We undertake one Year 5 and one Prep (Years 3&4) LIVE virtual lesson on TUESDAYS as follows:
· Years 3&4 (Prep) – 4:30pm to 5:15pm
· Year 5 – 5:20pm to 6:20pm
These lessons can also be attended should a child miss a lesson at the centre for that week – they must however obtain the Test/Pack(s) beforehand.
KES/Independent Schools
KES/Independent Schools A course covering a higher level of Maths (word problems, lateral thinking and problem solving), Comprehension (written answers providing evidence from the passage) and Creative Writing for those students wishing to gain a place at the top tier private institutions of King Edwards Schools or any other Independent School in the country
Mock Exams
Mock Exams These are an invaluable tool in preparing a student for exam conditions and discipline. Children are exposed to a multitude of facets like time management and developing their ability to stay calm even if faced with unfamiliar question. 11Plus West Midlands undertake 5 Mock Exams (one each month) leading up to the 11+ exam. Each Mock exam will be marked and the results presented in a report, which will provide the child’s mark, percentage and ranking for each discipline as well as an overall data and rank. More importantly, however, you will receive the actual Mock paper back with the answers, so you can work over any corrections with your child. No other centre offers this.
Booster & Crash Courses
May Half Term Booster Course and 11+ Summer Crash Course These intensive sessions for Year 5s run over the respective holiday periods and are a mixture of timed exam practice, identifying weak areas (and improving on them) and increasing the range of skills in Maths, English, VR, NVR and Comprehension. Additionally, they are an invaluable tool in preparing a child for exam conditions and discipline.
Maths
This involves the child being tested on mental maths, maths concepts and skills and problems that have to be solved in multiple stages. It also tests the child’s English skills in deciphering word problems.
English
Comprehension – this involves the child’s understanding and interpretation of what is read. In addition to being able to decode what they read, the child should be able to make suitable inferences involving knowledge, experience and thinking.
Verbal Reasoning
This involves the child thinking about words and text and solving problems, sequences, codes etc. It requires the pupil to have a good grasp of English grammar and a wide vocabulary. It tests the child’s lateral thinking.
Non-Verbal Reasoning
This involves the child thinking about pictures and diagrams and solving problems based on these items. It tests the child’s logical thinking.
Reading
This stimulates a child’s imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.
General Knowledge
This enables one to understand and analyse situations better. A high level of general knowledge opens gateways to our thinking and will passively yet directly enhance academic knowledge, adapt to situations more and make better decisions.

Mr Rashid’s teaching method itself is clear, concise and structured. This enabled me to pass my 11 plus and get into Wolverhampton Girl’s High, I don’t think I could have achieved this without Mr Rashid’s help – he was always present to answer questions via email and face to face very promptly. Thank you Mr Rashid for your help in getting me into a school that would give me the best education possible.
