Mrs. Yasin

Mr Rashid knows what he's doing, it's as simple as that! It helps that he too has been through the 11+ experience attending a grammar school himself when younger and then with his own children. One can't truly appreciate something until one has lived and breathed it oneself so Mr Rashid empathizes with his students

Mr Anwar, thank you so much for all your help and support.  Very pleased with the results.

Hi Mr Anwar. Just to let you know that L and S have both been offered a place at Wolverhampton Girls High School. Thank you very much for your help.

Centres

Numerous studies have shown that children perform better in small groups (of 8 to 10 students) than any other situation. This is extremely beneficial as a child is more receptive in a communal environment where they can bounce ideas and exude creativity.

Both individually and in large classrooms, the passivity of some students who rarely initiate an idea, ask a question, or show interest in participating is apparent. Yet, in the canteen and on the school playground, these same children (in small clusters) exchange ideas, consider alternatives and probable consequences and solve problems.

Thus, the small group approach is effective in providing an enjoyable learning experience for students. (Both “enjoyable” and “learning” are important here. There is good reason to expect that students can participate in a classroom experience that is enjoyable and results in learning).

The students learn from each other, become supportive of one another as well as endure healthy competition, of vying for the teachers praise, racing to answer the question first or being eager to get the top mark in the test that week. Students report that it is fun to sit down and talk to other students about a topic.

11Plus West Midlands captivate the essence of this learning environment with fun, interactive and highly productive lessons. Sessions are held on Sunday’s for 1½ hours as follows:

Three courses are currently being offered at the centres:

11+ Course – Year 5

The Year 5 11+ course is specifically designed to nurture the lateral thought process and enhance the key aptitudes required to sit the 11+ plus exam. Skills within each of the four key 11+ disciplines of English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning are taught. A Test pack of 11+ type questions is given to the students every week to work through and consolidate the skills of the lesson.Additionally, there is also a homework pack to complete every week, which is tested, marked and feedback presented the following week. This ensures the parent is continually kept up to date with their child’s progress. The fee for this 1½ hours tuition, weekly test pack, homework pack, testing and feedback is £27.

11+ Prep Course – Year 3 and Year 4

The Year 3 and Year 4 preparatory course is a building block to enhance the child’s key proficiencies and build a foundation in order to fulfil their potential the following year. The vital skills necessary and principal concepts of Maths and English are covered in-depth to ease the passage onto the rigorous 11+ year.Once again there is also a homework pack to complete every week, including the all important vocabulary, which is tested, marked and feedback presented the following week. The fee for this 1½ hours tuition, weekly pack, testing and feedback is £22.

11+ Prep Course – Year 1 and Year 2

The essence of the Year 1 and Year 2 programme is to lay a solid foundation for your child’s education. By tackling work that would usually be covered in later years, our pupils are usually well ahead of their peers in schools, thus giving them an edge when it comes to essential Maths and English subjects.Historically, our pupils have by far outperformed other pupils in KS1 and KS2 SATs and internal tests. Lessons consist of 1 hour sessions, once or twice per week, depending on requirement. A homework pack is also provided, which needs to be completed by the next lesson. In Year 1 / 2, the pupil is tested intermittently, rather than every week, as testing every week at this stage may prove counter productive.

  • Payments for full course (or part thereof) are only accepted until 6 months into course (end February). Thereafter, only Weekly or 4 Monthly payment methods are valid.
  • No refund can be given on any Advance payments made should you wish to withdraw your child from the course for any reason.
  • Advance fees not carried over if any lessons are missed
  • Cheques to be made payable to ’11Plus West Midlands’
  • If a lesson is missed, the Test and Pack for that week must be purchased for the missed lesson, or is included if fees have been paid in advance (except Mocks, Revision Tests and End of Year Tests – which must be sat at our centres).  This is crucial for the students to acquire the complete 11+ skill set. These items are sent out on the Wednesday after the lesson.  The fees for the weekly Test and Pack are : Years 1 to 4 – £12.95 and Year 5 – £14.95.
  • Failure to keep up to date with weekly fees nulls your child’s place on the course, and thus, the place will be offered to another child.
  • If your child’s place has been offered to another child, and you wish to re-join the course, you must pay the fees for the Tests and Packs missed, and the Tests and Packs for those weeks will be provided.
  • Sibling discounts only apply if ALL siblings are present. If one child is not able to attend a lesson, a Test and Pack needs to be purchased for them, and the normal (non-discounted) fee applies for the child/children present.
  • Parents are solely responsible for their child’s 11+ application and should check consortium/school’s websites regularly for information and deadlines. 11Plus West Midlands, although happy to advise, accept no responsibility for late or missed applications
  • Parents are reminded to collect their child promptly at the end of each session, as neither 11Plus West Midlands nor the centres can accept liability for additional childcare
  • The fee for a Mock Exam is £50 except for students that have attended 3 out of 4 lessons preceding the Exam, or purchased the Tests and Packs if absent, in which case the fee is £27.
